Martin County celebrates the success of conservation efforts funded by a 2024 half-cent sales tax increase

Martin County is celebrating the early success of the Martin County Forever program, funded by a 2024 half-cent sales tax increase dedicated to land conservation. In just over a year, the county has acquired more than 2,000 acres for preservation and expects to protect an additional 2,000 acres in the coming year through purchases and conservation easements.
The program aims to preserve natural lands, wildlife habitat, and the community’s rural character while improving environmental conditions and limiting development. A recent conservation easement at Bar-B Ranch is among the highlighted achievements.
