Martin County High School tennis programs welcome $1,200 donation from Piper's Landing

An ace was served on the tennis courts at Piper’s Landing Yacht and Country Club last month when club members held a Tennis Mixer and Fundraiser to benefit Martin County High School tennis teams.

Cullen de Windt, director of tennis at Piper’s Landing, organized the Mixed Doubles Event for members, who raised more than $1,200, which was donated to MCHS’ boys and girls tennis teams.

Cullen, a Martin County alumnus and a frequent winner on the Martin County Pro-Night Circuit, said, “I am grateful for the generosity and enthusiasm of all the members of Piper’s Landing. At Piper’s, we’re known for great golf, but we also have a thriving tennis program, and the turnout at this event proves that.”

The Martin County Athletic Department was delighted to accept the donation. The money was much needed by both the boys and girls tennis teams. Sports, such as football and baseball, collect gate revenue at their games. The same can’t be said for tennis, so it is fortunate for the school that this donation is going where it is needed.

This was the second annual tennis fundraising event sponsored by Piper’s tennis program. Last year’s recipients of funds raised were local area libraries.
