Palm City, Fla.—Stacy Ranieri, President and Chief Illuminator of The Firefly Group, was honored with the title of 2009 Woman of Distinction by The Soroptimist International of Stuart at the organization’s annual awards banquet on April 7. Ranieri was among nearly 60 women who were nominated in a variety of categories. As the winner of the Business/Professional category, Ranieri was selected as a Woman of Distinction because of her personal and professional dedication to improving the quality of life in Martin County and beyond. By providing significant levels of pro bono marketing, public relations, and strategic planning services to various local non-profit organizations, Ranieri’s firm, The Firefly Group, has helped these groups raise critically needed funds, develop comprehensive marketing and outreach strategies and enhance their image, professionalism and communication efforts.
The Firefly Group’s many contributions to the community focus primarily on children’s issues, the natural environment, and sustainable community initiatives. Some of the many organizations that have benefited from her expertise and generosity are Keep Martin Beautiful, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County, Tykes & Teens, Sustainable Martin Alliance, the Treasure Coast Children’s Museum and the Treasure Coast Wildlife Hospital.
Ranieri is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Stuart/Martin County Chamber and the United Way of Martin County and is the President of Sustainable Treasure Coast, Inc.

The Soroptimist International of Stuart’s Women of Distinction Awards recognize outstanding women of Martin County who: demonstrate high ethical standards personally and professionally; contribute time in Martin County; is a recognized role model; has a strong sense of community responsibility; and is outstanding in her contributions within Martin County. There are four award categories: business/professional, civic professional, volunteer and rising star, ages 17-21. Soroptimist comprises approximately 95,000 members in more than 120 countries and territories worldwide who contribute time and financial support to community-based projects that benefit women and girls. The Soroptimists support projects that reach out to women both at the local level and around the world, including the Save Our Selves / Save Our Sisters project that provides free mammograms to women.
